About Us

What is Ffrindiau Tyleri?

Ffrindiau Tyleri was set up in 2010 by Communities First in Blaenau Gwent to promote cultural events in Abertillery, Cwmtillery and the surrounding area. It is run by a group of volunteers from the area who put on free street events in the town.

We put on 4 events a year, in Spring, Summer, Hallowe’en and Winter when Father Christmas comes to town. Our structure is set out below and as you can see, there is room for anyone who has even a small amount of time to give.

  • Officers – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary
  • Trustees – representatives from the Museum, The Met, Ebenezer Chapel, the Scouts, Abertillery businesses and members of the public.
  • Volunteers – extra people who turn up on the day and make it all happen.
  • Funding – we keep our costs to an absolute minimum but have had grants and support from Abertillery & Llanhilleth Community Council and Blaenau Gwent Council
